About the role
We are seeking interest from enthusiastic and committed Active Support Workers (ASW) who have a passion for supporting clients under our Active Support model; all focused on enhancing inclusion, independence, and well-being for our clients.
We are actively seeking additional part-time team members for our beautiful Acacia home located in Westmead.
About Us:
As a ‘for-purpose’ organisation providing Supported Independent Living (SIL) to individuals with a range of sensory impairments and additional disabilities, our focus is to create opportunities for people to enhance their independence, inclusion and wellbeing.
Forsight was established in 1978 by a group of parents and teachers wanting to ensure their children had a pathway to independent living as young adults and beyond. Their mission has expanded to include people with a range of sensory impairments and disabilities, now supporting a growing number of clients in homes throughout Greater Sydney and the Illawarra. The love and dedication of those original parents and teachers remains at the heart of all we do.
With 16 shared accommodation homes across Greater Sydney and Illawarra, our mission is to provide high-quality care and improve the quality of life for our clients.
You can visit our website at www.forsight.org.au to learn more.
About our Roles:
The main purpose of our ASW roles is to provide support to their clients using a person-centred approach. Our focus is on recognising the potential in our clients to empower them in their day-to-day living experiences. Communication and liaison with key client stakeholders like families, guardians, and other service providers is critical, as is being able to work well within a passionate team.
About You:
You are enthusiastic, caring and committed to supporting people with disabilities to achieve their goals and improve their quality of life! You will hold or be studying for a Cert III in Disability or related discipline. Alternatively, you will have at least 6 months of work experience in a similar role. You will be able to work with challenging behaviours in a supportive model of care, and be flexible with your availability for shifts on a 24/7 roster (including sleepover and active nights).
You will have:
Current First Aid and CPR Certificate (with at least 3 months until expiry)
Valid and unrestricted Australian driver's licence
Unrestricted right to work in Australia
Current NDIS Worker Screening Check (or willingness to obtain)
PEG training (preferable)
