Tradesman - Metal Fabricator

About the role

You will be required to join metal sections and structures together using welding and bolting. You will select appropriate materials, methods, equipment and tools necessary to complete the job and use a range of machinery, hand tools and welding equipment in structural steel.

Key responsibilities

• Studies blueprints, drawings and specifications to determine job requirements

• Selects, cleans and prepares metal stock

• Cuts marked out metal sections and shapes using hand tools and metal cutting machines

• Aligns parts to be joined using hand tools and measuring instrument

• Joins metal sections using various welding techniques and bolting

• Examines welds for width of bead, penetration and precision

• Prepares all components for painting or powder coating

About you

• At least 1 year minimum full time relevant work experience in Heavy Metal Fabrication

• Trade Certificate / Relevant Certification

• Eye for detail and a "can do" attitude

• Good analytical skills and a methodical approach

• Team player that is capable and competent to work independently

• Confident communicator

• Able to undertake manual/physical work

• Motivated with a genuine interest in the fabrication industry

• Trustworthy and reliable

• High level of attention to detail
