About the role
We are a boutique traffic engineering consultancy with the capability and standards of a much larger firm. Melbourne is our head office, and from here we support projects across Victoria and nationally, working with developers, builders, architects, councils and some of Australia's leading brands including Coles, Telstra, Fulton Hogan, Downer, BMD, JLL and the University of Melbourne.We are known for three things. The roleOur Melbourne team is growing and we are looking for a Traffic Engineer with at least two years of experience to join us.You will work across our Construction Traffic Management and Transport Advisory service lines, from Construction Traffic Management Plans for complex CBD and infrastructure sites through to Traffic Impact Assessments supporting planning permit applications. Project types range from small commercial fitouts to major road projects, industrial precincts, healthcare campuses and transport terminals.
You will• Prepare Construction Traffic Management Plans and Traffic Guidance Schemes, along with construction staging documentation• Deliver Traffic Impact Assessments supporting planning permit applications under the Victoria Planning Provisions• Undertake swept path analysis, car parking layout and access design• Prepare Vehicle Management Plans, Pedestrian Management Plans and Haulage Management Plans• Conduct site inspections and traffic and pedestrian safety assessments across operational sites including warehouses, loading docks and yards• Liaise directly with clients, councils and the Department of Transport and Planning to secure approvals• Support the team on road safety audits, risk assessments and work zone applications• Manage your own project scope, programme and deliverables with support from senior staff
What we are looking for• A relevant tertiary qualification in civil, traffic or transport engineering• At least two years of experience in traffic engineering, whether in consultancy, contracting or local government• Working knowledge of Austroads guides, AGTTM, Road management's act, and Victorian road authority requirements• Familiarity with Victorian planning schemes and the car parking provisions• Competence in AutoCAD or Civil 3D, and swept path software such as AutoTURN or Vehicle Tracking• Sound technical judgement and the ability to produce clear, well reasoned reports• Confident written and verbal communication, because you will be dealing with clients and authorities directly• A collaborative approach and a genuine interest in getting the safety outcome right, not just the compliant one
Nice to haveNone of these are essential and we will train you on any of them. They will simply help you hit the ground running.• Exposure to Waste Management Plans, refuse room design or council waste guidelines• Road Safety Auditor accreditation, or an interest in working towards it• SIDRA or other intersection modelling experience• Site experience on live construction projects• Victorian traffic management qualifications, or a willingness to obtain them
