About the role
About us
Cancer Council NSW (CCNSW) is a community funded and focused not for profit. We are the largest cancer charity in NSW, and our point of difference is that we work across every area of every cancer, from research right through to support.
At CCNSW we understand that nothing feels better than doing work you really care about. As Australia’s leading organisation supporting all people impacted by all cancers, we understand how good it feels to make a difference. We know that almost 1 in 2 Australians are affected by cancer during their lifetime, by joining the passionate team at CCNSW you’ll know that each day the work you’re doing will positively impact people in your life and Australia.
About the team:
The Cancer Information and Support Services Division (CISS) aims to empower and support people affected by cancer, so that no-one faces cancer alone. This Division assists people as they navigate the cancer journey, easing their emotional and practical burdens and helping them make informed decisions.
The Practical Support Services team provides support to people affected by cancer, ensuring practical needs are met throughout their cancer trajectory. The services offered include pro bono legal and workplace advice, support with accommodation and transport to and from treatment, as well as various types of financial support. These services aim to meet the legal, financial and practical needs of people affected by cancer and contribute to their well-being by reducing stress and improving their quality of life.
About the role:
Working alongside the Practical Support Services team, the key purpose of the Pro Bono Coordinator is to oversee and contribute to the delivery of pro bono legal, financial planning and workplace professional services for people affected by cancer. This support is delivered by partnering with external pro bono partners across the country to provide free advice to patients and carers when they cannot afford to access this.
This is a full-time, 12-month fixed-term contract based at our Woolloomooloo office, offered under a hybrid working model.
