About the role
We currently have an opening for a qualified, self-motivated Senior Electrical & Instrumentation Technician. This role is ideal for an experienced professional who can effectively manage their workload, take ownership of responsibilities, and consistently deliver successful outcomes. Working across a broad range of industrial environments, you will bring strong technical expertise in automation, fault finding, instrument calibration, motor control, and equipment maintenance to support efficient plant operations. As our business continues to grow, we are inviting Expressions of Interest from Senior Electrical & Instrumentation Technicians looking to expand their experience within the water and wastewater infrastructure sectors. This is an excellent opportunity to join a highly experienced team delivering innovative solutions for some of GWW's critical assets while further developing your skills across a diverse portfolio of projects.
Key responsibilities
Lead and coordinate Electrical & Instrumentation (E&I) sewerage and water infrastructure sectors, ensuring work is completed safely, efficiently and to the required standards.
Perform hands-on electrical and instrumentation activities while providing day-to-day leadership, technical support and guidance to trades personnel and contractors.
Allocate work priorities, coordinate resources and monitor progress to ensure maintenance, reactive and project activities are delivered on schedule.
Support the installation, maintenance, calibration and fault-finding of electrical systems, instrumentation, control systems and motors.
Ensure all E&I activities comply with safety, environmental and quality requirements, including permit-to-work systems, isolation procedures and relevant industry standards.
Collaborate with Supervisors, Planners, Operations and Maintenance teams to resolve equipment issues, improve asset reliability and support continuous improvement initiatives across operations.
About you
Trade-qualified Electrician or dual-trade Electrical & Instrumentation (E&I) Technician with 15 years of experience in industrial maintenance, construction, and operational environments.
Previous experience in a Leading Hand or senior trades-based role within sewerage and water infrastructure sectors.
Strong technical knowledge of electrical distribution systems, instrumentation, and PLCs.
Demonstrated ability to lead small teams, coordinate daily work activities and maintain high standards of safety, quality and productivity.
Sound understanding of permit-to-work systems, electrical isolations, hazardous area requirements and risk management processes within live operating facilities.
Strong communication, leadership and problem-solving skills, with the ability to mentor team members, build effective stakeholder relationships and contribute to a positive safety culture.
What we need
Possess a current A-Grade Electrical Licence with at least (15) years of industrial experience
Must be available for after-hours on-call roster
Relevant Trade qualifications
Experience in the maintenance and repair of water/or wastewater infrastructure
Current/ Valid driver's licence
Natural enjoyment of fault-finding in Industrial settings
Solid understanding of mechanical systems including pipework, valves, pumps, and rotating equipment
Ability to read and interpret Mechanical and Electrical schematic drawings
Ability to connect and build rapport with a range of clients from diverse backgrounds
