We are seeking a talented and motivated solicitor to join our growing team at Bansal Lawyers in Melbourne VIC 3000. This is a full-time position offering an excellent opportunity to develop your career across family law, general civil litigation, and criminal law. You will work alongside experienced practitioners, providing high-quality legal services to clients navigating a broad range of legal matters. This role is integral to our practice’s continued success, and your work will have a meaningful impact on the lives of our clients during pivotal times.
Providing comprehensive legal advice to clients on family law matters, including divorce, property settlement, child custody, and parenting arrangements
Providing legal advice and representation in criminal law matters, including summary and indictable offences, bail applications, plea hearings, and sentencing
Preparing and filing legal documents, affidavits, court pleadings, and submissions in accordance with procedural requirements
Conducting initial client consultations and maintaining detailed file management
Negotiating settlements and representing clients in mediation and alternative dispute resolution processes
Appearing in court and attending legal conferences on behalf of clients across the Magistrates’ Court, County Court, and Federal Circuit and Family Courts
Conducting legal research and staying current with developments in family law, and criminal law legislation and case law
Providing drafting services for separation agreements, parenting plans, contracts, and other legal instruments
Managing client relationships with professionalism, empathy, and clear communication
Contributing to the development of practice procedures and assisting in training junior staff as appropriate
Admission as a Solicitor in Victoria and current Practising Certificate with the Law Society of Victoria
Minimum 1 years’ post-admission experience in family law and criminal law.
Essential experience in family law practice; demonstrated experience in civil litigation or criminal law is highly regarded
Strong knowledge of the Family Law Act 1975 (Cth), relevant civil procedure rules, and the criminal law framework in Victoria
Demonstrated experience in dispute resolution, including negotiation, mediation, and litigation
Excellent written and oral communication skills with the ability to explain complex legal concepts to clients in an accessible manner
Proficiency in legal research and case analysis
Strong organisational and time management skills with the ability to manage multiple matters simultaneously
Demonstrated commitment to client care and professional ethics
Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team environment
Experience with tribunal and court proceedings is highly regarded
