Dandenong Hospital Emergency Department is a busy 36-cubicle emergency service providing 24-hour care to the diverse communities of Melbourne's south-east. With four resuscitation cubicles and a 20-bed Short Stay Unit, the department provides nurses with broad exposure to high-acuity emergency presentations alongside acute medical, surgical, orthopaedic, mental health, trauma and paediatric care.

About the Role

Join our team as a Registered Nurse on a part time or full time, ongoing basis to work in our challenging, rewarding and constantly evolving Emergency Department. No two shifts are ever the same. One moment you may be caring for a critically unwell patient, the next you may be supporting a family through a difficult time, coordinating multiple competing priorities or responding to a rapidly changing clinical situation.

You will be responsible for delivering high-quality, evidence-based critical care nursing, including:

• Conducting rapid assessment, triage, planning, implementation and evaluation of care in collaboration with the multidisciplinary team and in partnership with patients, their families and carers
• Monitoring patients for critical and time-sensitive changes in condition, initiating appropriate emergency procedures and escalating concerns to the Manager as needed
• Supporting timely discharge and referral pathways to facilitate a safe and effective transition from the ED to the next stage of care
• Maintaining accurate, current medical records in a fast-paced environment, in line with professional and legal documentation standards

This role requires the ability to work a rotating roster across day, evening and night duty shifts.

• Excellent organisational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritise competing demands

Mandatory requirements of the role:

• Emergency Department experience desirable but not essential

• Registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia (NMBA) via the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA)
