Experienced Medical Receptionist

About the role

You will manage the front desk operations to ensure smooth patient presentation and excellent administrative flow. You are someone who takes the time to listen, showing compassion to our patients while handling day-to-day clinic tasks efficiently. This casual position offers excellent flexibility and is perfect for someone looking to balance work with other commitments.

Key responsibilities

• Greet patients, manage check-ins, and coordinate appointments both over the phone and face-to-face

• Manage medical billing, process Medicare claims, Work Cover and handle incoming emails and digital correspondence

• Accurately update patient files and manage medical records within Best Practice Software

• Work seamlessly alongside our General Practitioners, Practice Nurse, and Practice Manager

• Keep the reception area and waiting room tidy, professional, and welcoming each patient

About you

• Prior experience as a medical receptionist in a GP setting is essential, with Best Practice software experience

• Excellent communication, multitasking abilities, and proficiency with practice management software (e.g., Best Practice, Tyro, Excel, Work Cover Remittances, printers and word processing)

• A warm, confident, and empathetic personality

• Comfortable working around our dog (since Henri the therapy dog is a key part of our team)

• Flexibility to cover busy periods, planned staff leave, or short-notice sick leave is highly valued
