About the role
Mt Gravatt Private Hospital is a state of the art ophthalmic day hospital that opened in January 2026. We aim to provide the highest level of quality care on an individual basis and are focused on providing world class, outstanding patient care. We are a dedicated and friendly team seeking an experienced and passionate Director of Nursing to lead our nursing team within our day hospital.
About the Role
As Director of Nursing, you will provide clinical leadership and operational oversight of our nursing services, ensuring the delivery of safe, high quality and patient centred care.
Working closely with the hospital leadership team, Visiting Medical Officer’s and our nursing staff, you will be responsible for maintaining high clinical standards while fostering a positive, supportive and accountable workplace culture.
Your responsibilities will include:
· Providing strong clinical and professional leadership to the nursing team
· Overseeing the day-to-day nursing operations of a two-theatre day hospital
· Ensuring high standards of patient safety, clinical governance and quality care
· Supporting, mentoring and developing nursing staff
· Managing staffing, rostering and workforce requirements
· Maintaining compliance with relevant legislation, accreditation and clinical standards
· Working collaboratively with surgeons, anaesthetists, and other healthcare professionals
· Supporting continuous improvement, risk management and quality initiatives
· Contributing to the strategic direction and ongoing development of the hospital
· Being a visible and approachable leader who is prepared to work alongside the team when required
About you
You will be an experienced nurse leader who combines strong clinical knowledge with excellent people and operational skills.
You will have:
Current AHPRA registration as a Registered Nurse
At least 3 years’ experience in a senior nursing leadership role
Experience within a day hospital, private hospital, perioperative or surgical environment
Strong understanding of clinical governance, accreditation and quality standards
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
A collaborative and supportive leadership style
The ability to balance clinical priorities with operational requirements
A genuine commitment to patient-centred care and staff development
