Residential Construction Estimator

About the role

Modern Designer Homes is seeking an experienced Residential Construction Estimator to join our growing team in Epping. This role is suitable for a highly organised and detail-focused estimator with a strong understanding of the Victorian residential construction industry. The successful candidate will be responsible for preparing accurate sales and production estimates for single-storey and double-storey custom homes.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare accurate sales and production estimates for residential construction projects

• Complete detailed material and labour take-offs

• Prepare Bills of Quantities, project costings and purchase orders

• Review architectural drawings, engineering plans, specifications, colour selections and contract documentation

• Prepare pricing for client variations, upgrades and customised designs

• Obtain and assess quotations from suppliers and subcontractors

• Maintain and update supplier pricing, estimating templates and cost databases

• Identify discrepancies, missing information and potential cost risks before construction

• Work closely with the sales, drafting, procurement, administration and construction teams

• Ensure estimates are completed accurately and within required timeframes

About you

• A minimum of three years' experience as an estimator within the Australian residential construction industry

• Experience estimating detached homes, including single-storey and double-storey projects

• Strong proficiency in Databuild or Buildxact estimating software

• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills

• The ability to accurately read and interpret architectural drawings, engineering plans and construction documentation

• Sound knowledge of residential construction methods, materials, terminology and building stages

• Experience preparing take-offs, Bills of Quantities, purchase orders and variations

• Strong numerical, analytical and problem-solving skills

• Excellent attention to detail and a commitment to accuracy

• Good communication, organisation and time-management skills
