About the Business Unit
Under the leadership of the Chief Municipal Inspector, the Local Government Inspectorate (LGI) is an independent administrative office hosted by the Department of Justice and Community Safety. It is the dedicated integrity agency for local government focussing on investigations for offences and compliance with the Local Government Act 2020 (Act).
About the Role
As an Inspector of Municipal Administration, you will participate in the key functions of the Inspectorate, including the assessment of complaints, conducting initial action enquiries and subsequent investigations. This includes making enquiries with councils, complainants, and witnesses, conducting interviews where necessary, documenting all actions and activity.
The role also includes assisting in the development and delivery of proactive governance examinations of councils and assisting in broader reviews of systemic issues across the local government sector.
Assessment and investigation functions must be conducted, in an effective, efficient, fair and timely manner to ensure the integrity and transparency of local government in Victoria.
