Revolution Design is the design partner behind Incat Tasmania’s world-leading aluminium shipbuilding program. For more than two decades, our specialist team of naval architects, engineers and designers has worked alongside Incat to develop fast, efficient, and future-ready vessels. From concept through to delivery, we create advanced lightweight ferries that maximise performance, energy efficiency, and reliability – shaping the next generation of sustainable maritime transport and enabling Incat to deliver the world’s most advanced electric shipbuilding program.
Position Summary
This position is ideal for a graduate who will complete their degree and be able to commence in January/February 2027.
As Graduate Naval Architect, you will develop your naval architecture skills while supporting the design of some of the worlds most advanced battery electric ferry designs. You’ll work on a variety of tasks such as preparing statutory drawings and documents, stability simulations and reports, weight estimates and general arrangement drawing updates. Being part of a small team, you’ll also get exposure to other tasks and disciplines as part of your regular work.
What you'll be doing
Work directly alongside the Head of Naval Architecture on the design and development of innovative, next generation high-speed electric ferries.
Develop practical, hands-on experience across core naval architecture disciplines, including hull form optimisation, hydrostatics and stability analysis, weight control, performance assessment and statutory compliance.
Contribute to real world vessel design, construction and delivery.
Experience the complete design process from initial concept and feasibility studies through detailed design, class approval, yard support and sea trials.
Build proficiency using industry-standard naval architecture software and engineering tools while applying theoretical knowledge to real-world vessel design challenges.
Visit constructions sites, workshops and vessels to see your designs come to life and develop an understanding of practical designs.
Qualifications and Experience
Degree in Engineering, Naval Architecture or similar.
High level of computer literacy, including with common office applications and relevant design software (Maxsurf, AutoCAD, Rhino and CFD - desirable).
Demonstrated ability to build relationships with relevant stakeholders.
