About the role
The Victorian Allied Health Professionals Association (VAHPA) is looking for an organised, member-focused and technically confident Membership and Administration Officer to join our team.
VAHPA is the specialist union representing Allied Health Professionals across Victoria. We organise to improve the wages, conditions, professional recognition and working lives of allied health professionals and to build a stronger voice for allied health across the Victorian health system.
The Membership and Administration Officer plays a central role in the day-to-day administration of VAHPA's growing membership.
You will be responsible for processing memberships and membership changes, maintaining accurate membership and payment records, responding to enquiries and helping members and prospective members with membership-related matters.
As an important first point of contact with VAHPA, you'll need to provide members with friendly, professional and efficient service and make sure workplace or industrial enquiries are quickly referred to the appropriate VAHPA team.
Strong IT and digital skills are also an important part of the role. Much of VAHPA's membership administration relies on databases and interconnected digital systems. You will work extensively with our membership database, payment and communications systems, electronic distribution lists and other digital platforms.
We're looking for someone who is confident with technology and enjoys working with systems and data. You don't need to be an IT specialist, but you should be comfortable learning new software, troubleshooting routine problems, identifying data and systems issues and understanding how information moves between different systems.
The role also provides administrative and practical support to VAHPA's organising and campaigning work, helping our organisers access accurate membership and workplace information and supporting meetings, training, campaigns, rallies and other union activities.
You'll have strong administrative and organisational skills, excellent attention to detail and a genuine commitment to providing high-quality service to members.
You'll also have strong IT and digital skills and be confident working with databases and information systems. Experience with membership or CRM databases, data management, digital communications platforms, websites, reporting tools or integrated systems would be particularly valuable.
You'll be comfortable investigating why something isn't working as expected, solving routine problems and knowing when an issue needs to be escalated.
You'll be a good communicator, able to manage competing priorities and understand the importance of accuracy, privacy and confidentiality when dealing with membership, personal and financial information.
Experience in a union, membership organisation, health service or similar member-focused environment would be an advantage, but isn't essential.
Most importantly, we're looking for someone who understands the importance of good membership administration and wants their work to contribute to building a stronger union for Allied Health Professionals.
The position is based at the VAHPA office in Carlton.

VAHPA is committed to diversity and inclusion and encourages applications from people with diverse backgrounds and experiences.
