GM Operations - Vic

Our client is a well-established, privately owned Australian business that has built an outstanding reputation over 20 years as a leader within its specialist industrial sector. Employing 100 people in Victoria and servicing Tier 1 infrastructure and industrial projects with material and services. 

As part of its continued growth, an opportunity now exists for an experienced operational executive to join the team in a newly created General Manager Operations position. You will assume responsibility for a significant Victorian operation, leading a large workforce while driving operational performance, leadership capability and continuous improvement.

Key Components of the Role:

• Lead a sizeable operational business with full accountability for performance.
• Develop and mentor the leaders 
• Drive operational excellence, efficiency and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Build greater accountability, performance measures and leadership capability.
• Strengthen customer and supplier relationships.
• Identify opportunities to improve systems, technology and automation.
• Partner with ownership on strategic planning and long-term business initiatives.
• Foster an engaged, collaborative and high-performing culture.

About You - We're looking for a confident, commercially astute operational leader who is equally comfortable on the factory floor as they are in the boardroom. You will bring:

• Proven experience leading large operational businesses within industrial services construction, infrastructure, building materials or similar heavy industry environments.
• A confident, authentic and approachable leadership style, with the ability to naturally earn trust, influence and respect at every level of the organisation.
• Strong commercial and financial acumen, with a proven track record of driving operational performance, profitability and sustainable business improvement.
• A genuine passion for developing people, building leadership capability and creating high-performing, accountable teams.
• The ability to strengthen culture while respecting the family values and people-first philosophy
• Experience leading operational change, continuous improvement, systems enhancement and business transformation initiatives.
• A hands-on approach, balancing strategic thinking with practical execution and a willingness to be visible within the operation.
• The ambition to play a long-term leadership role within a successful, privately owned Australian business.
