As our business continues to grow, we're looking for an experienced Business Development Manager to become the face of BHS Equipment in the field.
This is not an office sales role.
You'll spend the majority of your time on the road meeting customers, visiting workshops, transport depots, civil contractors, warehouses and industrial sites, building relationships and winning new business.
About the RoleYou'll be responsible for growing BHS Equipment's customer base while managing and strengthening relationships with existing clients.
You'll work closely with our operations team and workshop to identify opportunities, prepare quotations, follow up outstanding work, and help convert enquiries into long-term maintenance partnerships.
This is a hands-on commercial role that requires someone who understands heavy equipment and can confidently discuss repairs, servicing, maintenance programs and mechanical solutions with fleet managers, workshop managers and business owners.
Your ResponsibilitiesGenerate new business across transport, civil, construction, warehousing and industrial sectors.
Visit prospective customers daily to introduce BHS Equipment and develop long-term relationships.
Manage existing key accounts and identify opportunities to grow each customer.
Prepare, build and follow up service quotations and repair proposals.
Work alongside our workshop and field service teams to ensure quotations are accurate and practical.
Follow up outstanding quotes and convert opportunities into completed work.
Conduct regular customer visits, toolbox meetings and fleet inspections.
Entertain clients through lunches, industry events and networking opportunities.
Identify opportunities for preventative maintenance agreements and fleet servicing contracts.
Resolve customer concerns professionally and confidently, including difficult commercial conversations when required.
Maintain an accurate sales pipeline and CRM.
Represent BHS Equipment professionally within the heavy vehicle and equipment industry.
We're looking for someone who can comfortably walk into a transport yard or construction site and immediately speak the customer's language.
Ideally you'll have:
Previous experience in Business Development, Account Management or Technical Sales.
A strong mechanical background.
Trade-qualified diesel mechanic or heavy vehicle mechanic highly regarded.
Excellent understanding of heavy diesel equipment and mechanical systems.

Earthmoving equipment

Bobcats & skid steers
Forklifts
EWPs
Cranes
Industrial diesel equipment
The ability to understand customer problems and recommend appropriate repair and maintenance solutions.
Strong commercial awareness and negotiation skills.
Confidence preparing quotations and discussing repair scopes.
Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
A proactive attitude with the drive to chase opportunities rather than wait for them.
Current driver's licence.
