About the role
Sitting within the Chief Operating Officer Portfolio, the Governance team is responsible for Council secretariat, First Nations engagement, risk management, and organisational performance and reporting, among other functions. It is a dynamic team with a diverse and engaging range of work that connects with every part of the business.
This position is ideal for a motivated and adaptable professional who enjoys working with people, coordinating activities and contributing to organisational success. The role provides a unique opportunity to develop a broad understanding of how a national cultural institution operates within the Australian Government environment. You will gain exposure to governance, planning, policy, risk, reporting, assurance, Council and Committee processes, and the delivery of whole-of-agency priorities, including the National Gallery’s Reconciliation Action Plan.
The filling of this vacancy is intended to constitute an affirmative measure under section 8(1) of the 'Racial Discrimination Act 1975'. This vacancy is only available to Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait people. This initiative helps to increase the number of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people employed in the National Gallery, to better reflect the diversity of the Australian community.
