Role
Soulte Gregory Hills is seeking a qualified and experienced Chef to oversee the day-to-day operation of the kitchen and ensure the consistent delivery of high-quality meals. The successful applicant will play a hands-on role in food preparation and cooking while providing leadership and supervision to the kitchen team. The position requires strong organisational and communication skills, the ability to perform efficiently in a high-volume environment, and a commitment to maintaining exceptional food quality and operational standards.
Working closely with management, the Chef will contribute to menu planning and seasonal menu updates, oversee stock control and food costing, coordinate kitchen workflow, and ensure compliance with all food safety and workplace health and safety requirements.
Responsibilities And Duties:
• Plan, prepare and cook contemporary Australian café and restaurant meals in accordance with established recipes and quality standards.
• Plan and review menus in consultation with management, including seasonal menu updates and new menu items.
• Supervise, train and coordinate kitchen staff to ensure efficient workflow and high standards of food preparation.
• Monitor food quality, consistency, portion control and presentation across all menu items.
• Coordinate daily kitchen operations to ensure timely preparation and service during busy trading periods.
• Estimate food requirements, manage inventory, order supplies and maintain effective stock rotation to minimise waste and control food costs.
• Liaise with suppliers regarding the procurement of fresh ingredients and kitchen supplies.
• Maintain a clean, safe and organised kitchen and ensure all equipment is operating efficiently.
• Ensure compliance with food safety, hygiene and workplace health and safety legislation at all times.
• Monitor kitchen performance and implement improvements to maintain operational efficiency and customer satisfaction.
Skills And Qualifications
• AQF Associate Degree, Advanced Diploma or Diploma (ANZSCO Skill Level 2), or at least three years of relevant work experience.
• Demonstrated experience working as a Chef in a commercial kitchen environment.
• Strong leadership, organisational and communication skills.
• Ability to work efficiently under pressure in a fast-paced environment while maintaining high food quality standards.
• Sound knowledge of food safety, hygiene and workplace health and safety requirements.
• Ability to work collaboratively within a team and independently, including availability to work weekdays, weekends and evenings.
Salary: $75,000 - $80,000
