TES – Grounds Maintenance Team Member – 1.1 Cas 6m Cont ATSI

Position Summary

Tangentyere Council Aboriginal Corporation (TCAC) is a community controlled Public Benevolent Institution delivering human services and social enterprise activities for the benefit of Aboriginal people from the Alice Springs Town Camps, urban Alice Springs, and Central Australia.

The position is responsible for supporting the delivery of high-quality grounds and yard maintenance services across Town Camps and Amoonguna Community, ensuring community centres and residential areas are clean, safe, and well maintained. The role contributes to both community amenity and fee‑for‑service activities while supporting RAES participants to build practical skills, work readiness, and positive employment behaviours. The role helps improve the look and safety of the community while also delivering fee‑for‑service work when required. This position involves regular engagement with community members

This position is a six-month casual role that focuses on supporting RAES participants to build skills, confidence, and good work habits that can lead to ongoing employment. Workers learn by doing the job, with support and guidance from the Grounds Maintenance Team Leader and the Skip Truck Driver/Trainer. On‑the‑job training is provided to help participants develop practical skills, teamwork, punctuality, and safe work practices.

Participants will be supported to gain their driving learner licence or Class C licence. Those who hold a current C Class Driver’s Licence will be supported and trained to work towards gaining a truck licence, where suitable. This includes supervised driving practice, learning vehicle safety checks, and understanding workplace responsibilities when operating trucks and equipment.

As part of your role, you will be working with children, people with a disability and people who are vulnerable. It is your obligation to always ensure their safety and report any concerns in line with our duty of care obligations. We have zero tolerance when it comes to abuse of any kind and will take disciplinary action, including and up to termination of employment, should we determine that abuse has taken place or there has been a failure to report any suspected or alleged abuse.

Qualifications and Selection Criteria

Required

• ·       Ability to manage own time and reliably attend work as scheduled, including communicating when unable to attend.
• ·       Willingness to follow directions, learn new skills, and accept on‑the‑job training.
• ·       Commitment to work safely and always follow workplace health and safety procedures.
• ·       Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
• ·       Hold a current NT C Class Driver’s Licence, or willingness and ability to obtain one.
• ·       Willingness to participate in training, including driver training and licence progression where suitable.
• ·Current NT Working with Children (Ochre) Card and satisfactory Police Check (within six months).

Desired

• ·Current First Aid Certificate, or ability and willingness to attain.
• ·An understanding of Aboriginal culture as well as a broad range of contemporary issues affecting Central Australian Aboriginal people.
