About the role
Lecturer – Women in Trades and Non‑Traditional Areas
Shape the future of trades. Share your skills. Inspire the next generation.
We are seeking expressions of interest from women working in trades and non-traditional industries who are interested in transitioning their industry expertise into teaching.
Examples of non-traditional areas include:
This register is designed to connect experienced women with current and future lecturing opportunities across a range of trade and technical training areas at North Metropolitan TAFE.
If you have strong, hands-on industry experience and are passionate about sharing your knowledge, supporting students, and helping shape the next generation of skilled workers, we encourage you to register your interest.
We are committed to increasing the representation of women in trades and non-traditional industries and strongly encourage expressions of interest from women working in traditionally male-dominated fields.
Why this role matters
We know that entering a trade can be challenging for women. Having visible female role models in training environments plays a critical role in encouraging participation, building confidence, and supporting retention of women apprentices.
As a Lecturer, you will guide and support students throughout their learning journey, assess their progress, and help them build confidence and practical skills for the workforce. Your presence will play an important role in providing visible role models for women entering trades and non‑traditional career pathways.
We recognise that teaching is a professional journey. Our lecturers are supported through ongoing professional development, mentoring, and access to learning resources to build capability and remain connected to current industry practices.
