Business Development & Marketing Advisor - 14-month fixed term contract

The role

Piper Alderman is seeking an experienced Business Development & Marketing Advisor to join our national Business Development & Marketing team on a 14-month fixed-term contract.

Based in Perth and reporting to the Director of Business Development & Marketing, with a dotted line to the Head of Perth Office, you will work directly with partners to develop and implement commercially focused business development plans that identify targets, build pipeline and convert new business opportunities, while working alongside the Client Growth Team to support priority client growth initiatives.

This role offers a unique combination of local and national responsibility. In addition to supporting the Perth office, you will act as the dedicated Business Development & Marketing Advisor for our national Employment Relations practice team, and our Life Sciences & Healthcare and Defence focus groups.

You will:

• Partner directly with lawyers and partners to develop and execute business development plans.
• Identify, qualify and progress new business opportunities, including target clients, referral sources and emerging market opportunities.
• Drive market-facing initiatives that enhance Piper Alderman's profile.
• Support national practice and sector groups with planning, market development initiatives and new opportunity generation.
• Facilitate introductions and pursuit strategies that create new work across offices, practices and sectors.
• Provide commercial insights and market intelligence that support strategic decision-making.
• Work closely with partners and the national BD&M team to build and maintain a visible pipeline of new business opportunities.
• Work alongside the Client Growth Team to support priority client growth initiatives and ensure new business activity is aligned with broader client development priorities.

About You

You are an experienced business development professional who enjoys working closely with senior stakeholders to identify opportunities, shape pursuit strategies and turn market insights into new business outcomes.  You will have:

• Tertiary qualifications in Business, Marketing, Communications or a related discipline.
• Significant business development experience within a law firm or professional services environment.
• Demonstrated experience developing and implementing business development plans.
• Experience working directly with partners or senior stakeholders
• Strong understanding of professional services business development, new business generation and, in collaboration with specialist client growth resources, client relationship development.
• Knowledge of the Perth professional services market highly regarded. 
• Demonstrate a proactive, results-driven and collaborative approach, building strong stakeholder relationships while operating with credibility, resilience, professionalism and adaptability.
• Highly commercial and strategically focused, with strong business development planning and execution capability, exceptional stakeholder management and influencing skills, and the ability to facilitate strategic discussions that drive accountability and outcomes.
• Excellent communication, analytical, problem-solving and project management skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities, identify growth opportunities and translate them into practical, actionable business development initiatives.
