Music Therapist

A wonderful opportunity has become available for an experienced Music Therapist to join the Montefiore on a permanent part-time basis. This position will complement our dedicated and extensive client engagement department and work closely with our diverse allied health staff.

The Role:

• The continuation and enhancement of a holistic approach to the development and maintenance of evidence-based Music Therapy programs specifically designed for residents within an aged care facility  
• Delivering individualised and group music therapy sessions
• Supporting and encouraging residents to develop their music confidence and maintaining their existing music skills
• Maintaining documentation and record keeping 

Essential Criteria:

• Bachelor’s degree in Creative Therapies and postgraduate studies in Music Therapy
• Music composition and performance experience
• Demonstrated competence in playing at least 2 instruments and music therapy interventions
• Ability to liaise with various stakeholders at all levels within the organisation
• Effective oral and written communication skills

The successful candidate will possess excellent interpersonal skills, an ability to work within a team and have a passion and genuine desire to work with an older population. Previous experience working within aged care and people living with dementia will be highly regarded.
