Role Description This full-time Senior Associate role is based in Melbourne, VIC and offered on a hybrid basis, combining in-office work with some work from home flexibility. The Senior Associate will manage a portfolio of complex matters, providing high-quality legal advice across insurance, health, commercial, and dispute resolution work, depending on experience and practice needs. Day-to-day responsibilities include drafting and reviewing legal documents, preparing advices, managing litigation files, supervising junior team members, and engaging in negotiations and mediations. The role involves regular client contact, including attending conferences, providing strategic guidance, and developing strong, long-term client relationships. The Senior Associate will also contribute to business development initiatives, support knowledge sharing within the team, and uphold the firm’s standards of professional, ethical, and client-focused practice.
Qualifications Current Australian legal practising certificate and several years of post-admission experience, ideally in insurance / litigation.Strong technical legal skills, including legal research, drafting, and analysis across complex matters, with sound judgment in advising clients and managing risk.Demonstrated experience managing files end-to-end, including litigation processes, dispute resolution strategies, and working to deadlines in a fast-paced environment.Proven ability to mentor and supervise junior lawyers and support staff, fostering collaboration, learning, and a positive team culture.Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with a client-centric approach and the ability to build and maintain professional relationships with diverse stakeholders.Strong organisational and time management skills, including the ability to prioritise competing demands, work autonomously, and contribute effectively in a hybrid work setting.Commercial awareness and interest in business development, including participation in networking, presentations, and practice growth initiatives.Experience working in insurance / professional indemnity would be highly regarded.
