About the role
NAPS is seeking a Social Work Placement Coordinator to manage and monitor practical placements for Social Work students. The placement coordinator works end to end with students and suitable providers and ensures that students receive an engaging placement experience. The successful candidate will have experience in the Social Work sector, and will work collaboratively with academic staff, students and external Social Work placement venues.
We are looking for an enthusiastic and innovative individual with Social Work sector experience who can work autonomously while contributing positively to the broader student and academic support framework.
This is an ongoing part-time position, requiring availability for 2-3 days per week (Monday to Friday) based in our Surry Hills campus, conveniently located near Central Station.
Key responsibilities
Source and secure suitable placement opportunities for Bachelor of Social Work students, ensuring compliance with the Australian Social Work Education and Accreditation Standards (ASWEAS).
Coordinate current and future student placements, ensuring all required documentation, resources, and information are provided.
Monitor and assess student progress during placement and contribute to the assessment of final placement outcomes.
Create and deliver content to students at different levels and stages of their degree.
Maintain accurate records of placements, student progress, and outcomes.
Stay informed of current industry trends, legislative requirements, accreditation standards, and best practice relevant to professional placements.
Support, liaise with, and provide guidance to placement supervisors to ensure students receive quality learning opportunities and professional supervision in accordance with ASWEAS requirements.
Liaise with placement providers and develop strong industry partnerships to support student placement opportunities.
Refer academic, professional conduct, or performance concerns to the Head of School as appropriate.
Identify and implement opportunities to enhance placement processes, student experiences, and graduate outcomes.
About you
Bachelor's degree or higher qualification in Social Work.
Eligibility for membership with the Australian Association of Social Workers (AASW).
A minimum of two years' professional experience in the social work sector.
Demonstrated experience in supervising, supporting, and assessing Social Work students on placement, or experience working closely with student placements in a professional practice setting.
Demonstrated knowledge of the social work sector and experience establishing and maintaining industry partnerships to secure suitable, compliant placements.
Experience supporting students from diverse cultural, linguistic, and social backgrounds, with a strong commitment to inclusivity and cultural responsiveness.
Excellent organisational skills, including experience maintaining accurate records and preparing reports using student or placement data.
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Forms, and other digital systems used to manage workflows and records.
Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively with students, academic staff, industry partners, and professional services teams.
