Children's Cook - Narangba

The Role

Are you looking for a new and exciting experience working alongside a terrific and dedicated team supporting the nutritional needs of young children?  If so, then this is the position for you!

We have had a rare opportunity become available for an experienced Children's Cook to work with our amazing Narangba team. This position requires passion, drive, commitment with a little bit of imagination and a love of healthy food. Everyday you will build beautiful relationships with the children, families, fellow educators and the community.

This position is 5 days a week with hours mostly set at 7:30-2:30 with some flexibility required as needed. We would love it if you had some experience working within a child care setting but its not essential for the role. Also, if you have a passion for gardening and growing food, you will love our community garden and opportunities to educate children and families about the importance of nutrition and sustainability.

You will work closely with like-minded cooks from our additional services, as well as our fantastic Food Services Coordinator in a monthly collaboration meeting.

The successful applicants will prepare, organise and deliver Morning Tea, Lunch, Afternoon Tea and a late snack daily and will have the support of a Children's Cook Supervisor who will support you on your journey.

Position and Role Requirements:

• Food Handling Certificate and/or Certificate of Commercial Cookery desirable.

• Have or be eligible to obtain a Working with Children's Check - Blue Card.

• Be highly organised and have a passion for including children in the education of the food they are eating.

• Be able to work autonomously and a skilled multi-tasker.

• Have a passion for cooking and most importantly a love of children.

• A love for fresh produce and gardening.

• Knowledge of safe food handling practices including receiving, storing, preparing and serving of food.

• You must be able to follow healthy and nutritious meal plans that cater for the children within the service.

• Child Care Qualifications are desired, but not a requirement.
