Clinical Midwife Consultant

Provide continuity of midwifery care for linguistically diverse women and women with significant mental health, alcohol and drug dependence.

The Role

An opportunity has become available for a Clinical Midwife Consultant to join Gold Coast Health (GCH) where the focus of our 14 000-strong team is on providing world-class health care to people living in the Gold Coast, and northern New South Wales region of Australia.

 You will

• Provide clinical governance and support to midwives, including caseload management, workload allocation and clinical supervision.
• Lead clinical quality improvement, quality assurance processes, audits, and the development of clinical guidelines, procedures and work instructions.
• Monitor client health outcomes and continuously review clinical support to identify and implement improvements within the model of care.
• Promote workforce development through reflective practice, case conferences, staff education, succession planning and collaboration with key stakeholders.

 About you

To be successful in this position you will require:

• Bachelor of Midwifery or equivalent  
• Registration with the Nursing Midwifery Board of Australia
• Evidence of vaccination, or be able to be vaccinated against and remain vaccinated against - Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella, Pertussis and Hepatitis B
• Tuberculosis screening, to identify if the tuberculosis vaccination may be required
• Declaration of serious discipline history must be disclosed
• Criminal History Screening will be required for new employees (GCH will cover cost)

 Salary

• Permanent Part Time (64 hrs per fortnight)
• Base salary ranging from $70.92 - $77.00 per hour

About Us

The Midwifery Group Practice (MGP) provides continuity of midwifery care for women in the Gold Coast area. The MGP midwives work in a collaborative partnership with the medical, allied health and midwifery teams at Gold Coast University Hospital.

The MGP consists of five group practices that are geographically based and eligible to woman planning an active labour & birth and early transfer into the community. In addition, the CALD MGP Care for Culturally and linguistically diverse women including women with AUSLAM requirements and the Millerri-Nyumbarlian Group Practice Care for women with significant mental health, alcohol and drug dependence
