About the team

The 2032 Games Coordination team is responsible for coordinating the City’s role as a Games Delivery Partner for the Brisbane 2032 Olympic and Paralympic Games (Games). The team works across the organisation and with external partners to ensure the City delivers on its commitments while positioning long-term legacy outcomes for the Gold Coast.

This is a full time ongoing position.

About the role

The Economic Lead is responsible for leading the planning, coordination and delivery of economic development initiatives that maximise legacy opportunities from the Brisbane 2032 Olympic and Paralympic Games.

What you’ll be doing

• Lead the development and implementation of economic initiatives linked to the Gold Coast 2032 Games Legacy Strategy
• Develop and implement commercial strategies aligned with organisational and Games objectives.
• Coordinate programs and projects across internal and external stakeholders including our controlled entities to ensure alignment with broader Games planning.
• Oversee the City’s 2032 Games Sport Attraction Program to identify and prioritise opportunities and optimise effort to deliver a quadruple bottom line return on investment for the Gold Coast.
• Lead high-level engagement and communications with Games Delivery Partners, sponsors, controlled entities, and external stakeholders.
• Undertake economic analysis, research and modelling to inform policy, planning and investment decisions.
• Establish economic KPIs (GVA, jobs, visitor yield, partner leverage) and reporting against portfolio objectives; embed ROI/NPV methods in proposals and performance reviews.

We’re looking for people who have

• Significant experience in economic development, economic analysis, investment attraction, industry development or strategic policy roles.
• Proven ability to translate strategic priorities into practical programs, initiatives and projects that deliver measurable economic benefits.
• Strong analytical skills, including the ability to interpret economic data, identify opportunities and provide evidence-based advice to support decision-making.
• Demonstrated experience building and maintaining productive relationships across government, industry, education and community stakeholders to achieve shared outcomes.
• A collaborative, proactive and solutions-focused approach, with the ability to manage competing priorities and deliver results in a complex and evolving environment.
