Solicitor - Mortgage and Lending

About the role

We're seeking a Solicitor with a minimum of 3 years' post-qualification experience (PQE) in mortgage processing and lending. You'll provide practical legal support across the mortgage lifecycle, from document preparation through to settlement and lodgement, working closely with our lending and operations teams to manage risk and keep transactions moving.

Key responsibilities

• Review, draft, and prepare mortgage and lending documentation

• Manage PEXA settlement workspaces and provide guidance on mortgage processing, settlements, and discharge matters

• Ensure compliance with relevant lending legislation, regulatory requirements, and internal policies

• Liaise with lenders, brokers, settlement agents, and other external stakeholders

• Identify and manage legal risk across the lending portfolio

• Support the business with day-to-day legal queries relating to mortgage and lending operations

About you

• Minimum 3 years' PQE, with demonstrated experience in mortgage processing, banking & finance, or a reputable property law team

• Current Victorian practising certificate (or ability to obtain one)

• Strong proficiency in PEXA, including management of settlement workspaces

• A solid understanding of end-to-end mortgage processes (multi-jurisdictional/national experience desirable)

• Excellent attention to detail, accuracy and professional judgement

• Strong communication and organisational skills

• Ability to work independently and collaboratively

• A proactive, positive and solutions-focused attitude
