New Murchison Gold Ltd (ASX:NMG) is a gold mining and exploration company which holds a substantial package of tenements in the prolific Murchison goldfield near Meekatharra, Western Australia. The Company currently operates the Crown Prince and the adjacent Cloudkicker open pit gold mines. The Company has an ore purchase agreement with Westgold Resources Limited, who process the NMG ore at its Bluebird processing facility.
The Company’s project team is studying potential future development of the Crown Prince underground and Lydia open pit prospects, Future growth is being generated by a motivated exploration team focused on the Garden Gully Gold Project which comprises a 619km2 tenure package covering the Abbotts Greenstone Belt and other key regional structures.
NMG is well funded with $201.7 million in cash at 30 June 2026 and is entering an exciting phase of growth, with active open-pit mining, project development and exploration activities.
Position Overview
The Manager Environmental Approvals will lead the full life cycle of environmental approvals for New Murchison Gold, ensuring all projects and operations meet statutory requirements while enabling timely and sustainable development. This role is central to managing approvals strategy, maintaining compliance and supporting the business through operations and growth.
Reporting to the GM Exploration and Growth, you will play a key role in shaping long-term project development, strengthening regulatory relationships and embedding effective compliance frameworks. You will also provide practical, hands-on support across operations, heritage, sustainability and stakeholder engagement.
Key Responsibilities
Lead the preparation, coordination and lodgment of State and Commonwealth environmental approvals for new projects and amendments to existing approvals.
Build and maintain strong, proactive relationships with regulatory bodies, Traditional Owners, pastoral owners and community stakeholders.
Provide strategic approvals advice to support life-of-mine planning, forecasting and long-term project development.
Identify, monitor and manage approval schedules, risks and mitigation strategies to support timely project delivery.
Interpret environmental legislation, government guidelines and approval pathways, providing clear and practical advice to the business.
Ensure compliance with statutory obligations, company standards and approval conditions, including managing approval amendments as required.
Represent NMG in regulatory forums, industry engagement and external audits, maintaining a professional and solutions-focused approach.
Oversee heritage management requirements, including compliance with native title agreement obligations.
Develop and maintain environmental systems, frameworks and compliance processes that support operational excellence.
Monitor legislative and policy changes, advising the business on emerging risks, obligations and required compliance actions.
Provide practical site-based environmental support, including field oversight, monitoring, training and supervision of environmental activities.
Manage technical consultants and contractors to ensure quality, timely and compliant delivery of environmental work programs.
Prepare environmental performance reporting and coordinate inputs for annual sustainability reporting.
Requirements
This position will suit an experienced, pragmatic environmental leader who has strong technical expertise and the ability to effectively influence a broad range of stakeholders.
To be successful in this role, you will have:
Tertiary qualification in Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering or a related discipline
10+ years’ experience in environment approvals management within the mining sector
In depth knowledge of environmental legislation and mining regulatory frameworks
A proven track record in navigating complex approvals and building effective relationships with regulatory bodies Demonstrated ability to coach and influence key stakeholders.
Excellent technical writing skills
Demonstrated communication skills including verbal and written
The ability to think strategically, aligning approvals with broader business objectives and long-term planning
Strong written communication skills with the ability to prepare clear, accurate and polished reports and documentation.
Excellent computer skills (Microsoft Office; Outlook, Excel, Word).
A practical, collaborative leadership style and the ability to influence contractors and operational teams while maintaining clear safety standards and accountability.
Location, Travel and Roster
The role will be best in West Perth will be required to undertake regular travel to the Crown Prince Operations and Project sites.
