Workshop Supervisor
Watmar Engineering is currently seeking an experienced, trade-qualified Workshop Supervisor to join our team in Naval Base.
Working under the direction of the Workshop Manager, the Workshop Supervisor will assist with the day-to-day coordination and supervision of workshop activities and assist where required on local site works.
This is a hands-on supervisory role suited to an experienced tradesperson who can provide direction and technical support to trades and workshop personnel while ensuring work is completed safely, efficiently and to the required quality standards.
The role will also coordinate and supervise local site works as required, including personnel, permits, subcontractors and communication with client representatives.
The successful candidate will work closely with the Workshop Manager, Project Managers and other departments to ensure work is appropriately planned, resourced and delivered in accordance with client and business requirements.

About the Role
You will be joining a local team servicing a diverse range of Defence, Marine, and Resources sector projects. These positions will suit individuals who enjoy dynamic workplaces and work environment, want to be part of a high-performance team, are motivated for excellence, and keen to continuously improve and learn as part of delivering value-adding solutions to clients.
Key Duties
Support the Workshop Manager with the day-to-day coordination of workshop activities.
Supervise and provide direction to tradespeople and workshop personnel.
Coordinate and supervise local site works as required.
Assist with allocating and prioritising work in accordance with workshop and project requirements.
Monitor job progress, productivity, quality and completion requirements.
Provide hands-on technical guidance and support to tradespeople.
Coordinate daily activities to ensure work is completed safely, efficiently and cost-effectively.
Ensure workshop and site personnel comply with Watmar HSEQ requirements and safe working practices.
Conduct and support pre-starts, risk assessments, permits and other required workshop and site documentation.
Monitor the quality of work and ensure required inspections, testing and quality documentation are completed.
Identify and communicate delays, additional works, resource requirements and other issues to the Workshop Manager and relevant Project Manager.
Assist with coordinating labour, materials, equipment and tooling requirements.
Supervise subcontractors and external service providers where required.
Liaise professionally with clients and client representatives during local site works.
Assist with planning and scheduling workshop and site activities.
Provide regular updates to the Workshop Manager on job progress, priorities and issues.
Support the training, mentoring and development of tradespeople and apprentices.
Maintain good workshop housekeeping, organisation and equipment standards.
Identify opportunities to improve safety, quality, productivity and workshop processes.
Work collaboratively with Project Managers, Engineering, Compliance, Administration and other departments to support effective job delivery.
Step in and support workshop operations as required by the Workshop Manager.

Experience / Qualifications
The successful candidate will have:
Australian recognised Mechanical Trade Qualification.
Current Driver's Licence.
White Card
National Police Clearance or ability to obtain one.
Ability to successfully complete a pre-employment medical.
Previous experience in a leading hand, supervisory or similar trade leadership role.
Strong mechanical maintenance, repair and overhaul experience.
Ability to coordinate tradespeople and manage day-to-day work priorities.
Strong understanding of workplace safety and quality requirements.
Ability to read and understand technical drawings, work instructions and job requirements.
Ability to communicate effectively with tradespeople, management, clients and subcontractors.
Willingness to work overtime when required.
Marine, industrial and/or fluid systems experience highly regarded.
Defence industry experience preferred.
High Risk Work Licence, including dogging, rigging and/or forklift, preferred.
Confined Space Entry preferred.
Working at Heights preferred.
