Rigger

About the role

Steelcraft Construction is seeking a skilled and experienced Rigger to join our team with a mixture of Perth and FIFO projects.

As a Rigger, you will play a critical role in ensuring the safe and efficient movement, positioning and securing of heavy loads and equipment across our construction and maintenance operations. Your expertise in rigging operations will be fundamental to the success of our projects and the safety of all personnel on site.

Key responsibilities

• Planning and executing rigging operations for the safe lifting, lowering and positioning of heavy equipment, materials and structural components

• Inspecting rigging equipment including slings, chains, shackles, spreader bars and lifting devices to ensure they meet safety standards and regulatory requirements

• Calculating load weights and determining appropriate rigging methods and equipment capacity for each lifting operation

• Communicating with crane operators, supervisors and other personnel to coordinate safe rigging activities and ensure clear understanding of lift plans

• Maintaining detailed records of rigging operations, equipment inspections and maintenance activities

• Adhering to all health, safety and environmental procedures, policies and legislative requirements on site

• Assisting with the setup, breakdown and maintenance of rigging equipment and work areas

What we're looking for

• Current and valid Rigging certification or High Risk Work Licence (HRWL) for rigging operations, or the ability to obtain one prior to commencement

• Proven experience working as a Rigger within the mining, resources, energy or heavy construction industry

• Strong knowledge of rigging techniques, load calculations and safe working practices

• Demonstrated experience with a variety of rigging equipment and lifting devices including slings, chains, shackles and spreader bars

• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, lift plans and load charts

• Excellent communication and teamwork skills with the ability to work effectively with crane operators, supervisors and ground personnel

• A strong commitment to health and safety with demonstrated understanding of risk management principles

• Physical fitness and ability to work at heights, in confined spaces and in challenging environmental conditions

• Flexibility to work on a casual basis and adapt to changing project demands

• Current First Aid certification is highly desirable
