Job Description

We’re looking for a Business Development Executive to join our Sales & Marketing team at Mercure Brisbane Spring Hill!

This is an exciting opportunity for a motivated and relationship-focused sales professional to play a key role in growing our hotel’s corporate, meetings and events business. You’ll be out there building connections, uncovering new opportunities and showcasing our hotel to clients across Brisbane and beyond.

About the Role

As our Business Development Executive, you’ll be responsible for driving proactive sales activity and helping achieve the hotel’s revenue goals across the MICE and corporate segments.

You’ll work closely with the Sales & Marketing Manager, our Accor sales network and teams across the hotel to identify new business opportunities, strengthen existing relationships and convert leads into successful business.

From client meetings and hotel site inspections to networking events, sales calls and market prospecting, this is a role where you’ll have the opportunity to get out from behind the desk, build your network and make a real commercial impact.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and implement proactive sales plans to generate new corporate, meetings and events business.
• Build, maintain and grow strong relationships with existing and prospective clients to maximise revenue opportunities.
• Identify and pursue new business through market research, networking, prospecting and sales activity.
• Conduct sales calls, client meetings and hotel site inspections to showcase our facilities and convert opportunities into confirmed business.
• Prepare professional and engaging proposals, contracts and sales presentations.
• Manage sales enquiries and follow-up activity to ensure opportunities are progressed and converted.
• Maintain accurate client records, sales activity and pipeline information through approved sales systems and reporting tools.
• Work collaboratively with the Sales & Marketing Manager, Accor sales network and hotel departments to deliver on sales strategies and business objectives.
• Partner closely with our Conference & Events, Revenue, Front Office, Food & Beverage and other hotel teams to ensure the successful delivery and retention of key accounts.
• Monitor market trends, competitor activity and client feedback to identify new opportunities and provide valuable market intelligence.
• Represent Mercure Brisbane Spring Hill and Accor at industry events, trade shows, networking functions and familiarisation activities.
• Act as an ambassador for the hotel and Accor, actively promoting our facilities, services and special offers.
• Work towards agreed sales and revenue targets and take a proactive approach to identifying opportunities when results are off target.

Qualifications

We’re looking for someone who is passionate about sales, hospitality and people, with the confidence and drive to build meaningful business relationships.

Ideally, you will have:

• 1–2 years’ experience in sales, customer service or business development, preferably within the hotel or hospitality industry.
• Qualifications in Sales & Marketing, Hotel Management, Business or a related field are desirable.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to confidently communicate with clients and prepare proposals and presentations.
• Excellent relationship-building and networking skills.
• A proactive and results-oriented approach, with a genuine willingness to seek out and secure new business.
• A passion for hospitality, sales and delivering outstanding customer experiences.
• An understanding of hotel operations and a willingness to learn and develop your commercial knowledge.
• Strong organisational and time management skills, with the ability to manage multiple enquiries, proposals, client requests and deadlines.
• Confidence using Microsoft Office, with experience using CRM systems and hotel property management systems highly regarded.
• The ability to work independently while also being a collaborative and supportive team member.
• A high level of professionalism, integrity and attention to detail.
• Flexibility and adaptability, with the ability to thrive in a fast-paced hotel environment.
• A genuine desire to embody Accor’s values and Heartist culture.
