Onyx Detailed Joinery is expanding, and we are looking for a Cabinet Maker / Joiner to join our growing team.
We welcome applications from qualified cabinet makers/joiners and apprentices of all stages, from 1st year through to 4th year, who are looking to develop their skills within a high-end custom joinery environment.

About the RoleWe are looking for someone who takes pride in their work and is keen to be part of a team producing high-quality custom joinery.
This is a permanent full-time position based at our Unanderra factory.
Permanent full-time position
38 hours per week
Factory based in Unanderra, close to public transport
Work alongside experienced cabinet makers and joiners
Reporting to the Production Manager
We offer competitive remuneration based on experience, skill level and qualifications.
Qualified Cabinet Maker / Joiner: $30–$45 per hour, depending on experience, qualifications and level of responsibility.
Apprentices: Remuneration will be discussed based on the apprentice’s current year, previous experience, skills and knowledge. We welcome apprentices at all stages of their apprenticeship, from 1st through to 4th year.
In addition to your base rate, the position includes overtime opportunities, applicable allowances and superannuation.
Key ResponsibilitiesRead and interpret detailed plans and drawings
Construct and assemble custom joinery components
Work with a range of materials including timber, laminate, veneer and solid surfaces
Produce high-quality custom joinery to project specifications
Ensure work is completed to a high standard and within project timeframes
Maintain a clean, organised and safe work environment
Work collaboratively with the wider production and installation team
For qualified tradespeople, we are looking for someone with experience in custom cabinet making and joinery who can confidently work from detailed plans and take pride in producing quality work.
Desirable:
3–4+ years' experience in cabinet making / joinery
Strong knowledge of cabinet construction and joinery techniques
Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Strong attention to detail and quality workmanship
Good communication and problem-solving skills
Manual driver's licence
Forklift licence is desirable but not essential
Positive attitude and willingness to contribute to a growing team
We are also looking for motivated apprentices at any stage of their apprenticeship, including 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 4th years.
Whether you're just starting out or nearing completion of your apprenticeship, this is an opportunity to gain hands-on experience and develop your skills within a professional, high-end joinery environment.
You will work alongside experienced tradespeople and have the opportunity to gain experience across a variety of bespoke residential and commercial projects.

Reliable and punctual
Motivated and eager to learn
Take pride in their work
Have good attention to detail
Interested in developing their cabinet making and joinery skills
Able to follow instructions and work as part of a team
Have a positive attitude and willingness to learn
Previous factory, woodworking or joinery experience is advantageous but not essential
