Primary objective
As part of the school management team, provide educational leadership and management and implement departmental and
school policies and programs to achieve educational outcomes for Senior Secondary students.
Context statement
Borroloola School is located in the township of Borroloola, 850km southeast of Darwin. The population is approximately
1000. There are four main clans: Garrawa, Mara, Yanyuwa and Gurdanji. The two main languages are Yanyuwa and English.
Borroloola can be accessed by a sealed bitumen road all year round or via air through regular passenger transport flights.
Borroloola School provides education to students from 0 (FAFT) to Preschool to Year 12 and Pathways Programmes for
students in 10, 11 and 12.
Key duties and responsibilities
1. Undertake an appropriate teaching load and lead the development of programs, initiatives and systemic programs.
2. Guide teachers to implement strategic directions of the department. Apply coaching principles and practices by working
with teachers in the development of whole school approaches to using data and implementing explicit teaching and
sound pedagogy into classroom teaching and learning programs.
3. Provide leadership and support with the development, implementation and review of the school ASIP through strategic
collaborative planning with the leadership team.
4. Guide teachers to implement effective SACE, VETis and flexible learning approaches by reviewing data and
collaboratively planning to improve student outcomes.
Selection criteria
Essential
1. Registration or ability to register, with the Teacher Registration Board of the Northern Territory and possession of a
current Working with Children Clearance Notice (Ochre Card).
2. Successful experience as an accomplished teacher of learners who speak English as an Additional Language, including
proven ability to provide high level coaching and/or mentoring around teaching and learning to both Aboriginal and non-
Aboriginal staff.
3. Successful experience in high level leadership, leading and implementing whole school approaches, change management,
crisis coordination, project management and evaluation of positive behaviour and/or mental health programs,
policy development and financial management.
4. Demonstrated successful experience in the implementation of the primary curriculum, assessment, moderation,
reporting procedures, NTCET, VETis, SACE and data analysis in line with whole school approaches, including the
oversight of data management systems.

Working with Children Notice (Ochre Card) from SAFE NT.
2. All applicants completing initial teacher education (ITE) courses after 1 July 2016 are also required to provide proof of
successful completion of the national Literacy and Numeracy Test for ITE students.
3. The successful applicant will be required to adhere to and model the NTPS Code of Conduct, Public Sector Employment
Management Act and other relevant legislation with the utmost integrity.
