About the role
Gallipoli Home is seeking an experienced and compassionate cook to join our team and play an important role in supporting the health, wellbeing, and quality of life of our residents.
As a cook, you will be responsible for preparing fresh, nutritious, and appealing meals in accordance with the standard resident menu and individual dietary needs. You will work as part of a supportive team while maintaining the highest standards of food safety, hygiene, infection control and workplace health and safety.
Your responsibilities will include:
Preparing and cooking a variety of meals, including meats, poultry, fish, cakes, pastries and sweets, in accordance with the resident menu.
Ensuring meals are fresh, nutritious, attractively presented and meet the needs of residents.
Maintaining strict food safety and hygiene standards and complying with the organisation's food safety program.
Completing all required food safety and hygiene training and maintaining current knowledge and competency.
Maintaining appropriate documentation and providing information required for food safety audits.
Following safe manual handling and infection prevention and control practices.
Completing relevant documentation and reports accurately and within required timeframes.
Participating in quality improvement activities to support the ongoing improvement of services.
Working respectfully and collaboratively with residents, families, colleagues and supervisors.

Understands and follows Work Health & Safety, infection control and food safety requirements.
Can manage the physical, mental and emotional demands of the role.
Relevant cooking qualification and experience in a similar environment as a Cook, or equivalent experience.
Evidence of previous training in food safety and hygiene.
Demonstrated ability to work independently with minimal direct supervision.
Demonstrated ability to work effectively as part of a team and take direction from a supervisor.
Willingness and availability to work a rotating roster, including weekends and public holidays.
