About the role
The City of Burnside is one of Adelaide's most vibrant and sought after local government areas, combining heritage charm with contemporary community life. Home to more than 45,000 residents and located just minutes from the CBD, we are proud to deliver events, programs and experiences that bring people together, celebrate our community and create lasting connections.
Are you passionate about creating unforgettable community experiences, developing innovative event concepts and building partnerships that make things happen?
Who’s hiring?
The City of Burnside is seeking an enthusiastic and organised Events and Sponsorship Coordinator to lead the planning and delivery of a diverse range of community and civic events, including our iconic Carols in the Park, Enviro Expo and Australia Day celebrations.
So, what’s the role?
This is far more than event logistics.
You'll lead the planning, development and delivery of a diverse portfolio of community and civic events from concept through to evaluation. Working closely with sponsors, community groups, performers, contractors, stakeholders and Council teams, you'll create experiences that engage residents, strengthen community connections and bring our places to life.
You'll also identify opportunities to innovate, evolve existing events and introduce fresh ideas, activations and partnerships that enhance participation and community impact.
No two days are the same. One day you might be developing a major event concept, the next negotiating sponsorship opportunities, coordinating event production or planning the next signature community experience.
Enough about us…let’s talk about You!
You will bring:
· Experience coordinating medium to large-scale community or public events.
· Strong stakeholder engagement, networking and relationship management skills.
· Experience developing and managing sponsorship agreements and partnerships.
· Excellent project management, organisational and problem-solving abilities.
· A tertiary qualification in Event Management or a related discipline.
· The ability to think strategically while remaining hands-on when required.
· A commitment to innovation, continuous improvement and community engagement.
· A willingness to occasionally work outside standard business hours to support events.
The position is on a full-time, classified at Level 5 plus 12% superannuation under the City of Burnside Administration Employees Enterprise Agreement 2023.
What’s in it for you?
Join a collaborative team that values innovation, creativity and making a meaningful difference in the community. Enjoy flexibility, a positive culture and the opportunity to contribute to one of Adelaide's most beautiful council areas, knowing your work helps improve the quality of life for people who live, work and visit our Council. An epic place to work! We strive to build a diverse, inclusive workforce that reflects our community and encourage applications from any background and ability.
You will be required to undertake a National Police Check as part of the on-boarding process and must have the right to live and work in Australia to apply for this position.
