Leading Hand Underground Diamond Driller

Mitchell Services (MSV) is looking for an experienced Leading Hand Underground Diamond Driller to join our growing operations at our NT Tanami Gold Mine.

This is a unique opportunity for an experienced senior driller who is ready to take on additional leadership and responsibility without stepping away from the tools.

Working as part of an 8-rig underground drilling project, you’ll remain an active Driller while supporting our three site Supervisors with the day-to-day coordination and leadership of drilling crews.

This is the ideal role for someone who is ready to step up from Senior Driller and develop their leadership skills with a pathway toward future supervisory opportunities.

As a Leading Hand, you will be a key link between the drilling crews and site Supervisors.

You'll continue to drill and perform the core duties of an Underground Senior Diamond Driller, while taking on additional responsibility for supporting crew performance, communication and day-to-day operations.

You'll be expected to lead by example, maintain high safety and production standards and assist Supervisors in ensuring the 8-rig project operates safely and efficiently.

• Safely and efficiently operate underground diamond drill rigs
• Execute hole plans accurately and consistently
• Maximise productivity while minimising equipment damage, tooling loss and downtime
• Support Site Supervisors with the day-to-day coordination of drilling crews
• Provide guidance and mentoring to Drillers and Offsiders
• Help communicate drilling plans, priorities and operational requirements to crews
• Monitor crew performance, safety and production standards

• Proven experience as an Underground Diamond Driller
• Experience operating LM90, LM110, MDR700 or similar rigs
• Demonstrated ability to lead, mentor or support a drilling crew
• Certificate III in Drilling Operations or a Certificate 4 in Drilling Operations
• Current Australian Open Car Licence
• Ability to obtain First Aid/CPR and National Police Check
