Now for the nitty gritty of what you will actually be doing in this role..
About the role
We are seeking a Senior Designer to lead and work alongside the product design and development team from concept through to commercialisation of merchandise products.
You'll be someone who thrives on generating fresh, original ideas and can confidently manage multiple projects simultaneously, seeing each one through from ideation to final execution. You have commercial sense, combined with outstanding technical, organisational, and communication skills.
Basically... we are looking for someone who will come up with fun, crazy, cool, creative, trendy and design-led ideas; turn those ideas into plans; share the plans with others; keep everything on schedule; and then stir up some magic to transform it all into real products that lots of people will want to buy, wear and keep forever :)
Key responsibilities
Develop creative concepts and plan new product collections that align with brand strategy and seasonal objectives
Create detailed briefs for internal and external freelance designers
Lead and mentor a team of designers, providing ongoing direction and feedback throughout the product development process
You'll be involved with more than just products, you'll also be working on packaging, branding, in-store merchandising solutions, store signage, and any other amazing project ideas you stir up
Manage Master Product Development Roadmap
Manage timelines and workflows to ensure projects are delivered on time, on budget, and on brief
Conduct quality reviews to ensure designs and production files are accurate and error-free
You'll keep Figma and our files beautifully organized
Identify and pitch new product opportunities by researching bestsellers and market trends
Work cross-functionally with sourcing and operations to bring products to market
About you
Minimum 4+ years in a senior design or merchandise development role
Demonstrated experience leading and mentoring designers, and managing various creative projects simultaneously
Experience planning and coordinating projects to completion
Comfortable working across multiple projects and timelines with minimal supervision
Obsessed with materials and all the small details
Highly organized and processed driven
Background in merchandise design for fashion, accessories, or souvenir brands is a plus
Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign, Figma)
Previous experience working for retail company in any capacity
Entrepreneurial mindset — passionate about ideas, innovation, and growth
Commercially minded — able to evaluate product ideas with both creativity and business objectives in mind
Background in product assortment planning and collection curation.
Bonus: Familiarity with the travel or giftware retail landscape.
