Teacher - Humanities and Social Sciences

We are seeking to establish a pool of Humanities and Social Sciences (HASS) Teachers for permanent and fixed term, full-time and part-time vacancies which may arise during the 2027 school year. Appointments may be offered at any time for vacancies that commence during this period.

Bob Hawke College opened in February 2020 to more than 250 Year 7 students and is the first high density public secondary college in Western Australia. Our pastoral care approach has been specifically designed to support young adults. Specialist staff provide students with individual support, as well as delivering social and emotional learning through CREW – our pastoral care program. All of our staff excel in their profession and inspire and motivate students, encouraging them to take responsibility for themselves, for others and for the world around them.

The Role

Suitable applicants should ideally use their skills to contribute to the development and growth of the HASS Learning Area and effectively build and maintain strong relationships with stakeholders at all levels as we continue to grow our vibrant and innovative College.

The HASS Learning Area is a high performing, innovative team. HASS teachers at Bob Hawke College are driven to provide a learning environment that is highly engaging, builds transferable skills, and creates responsible and globally aware citizens. Our HASS programs aim to provide a relevant, modern, and engaging experience for our students to engage with the curriculum through their community and world around them. HASS teachers plays an important role in the college’s commitment to Interdisciplinary learning and has an integrated approach to the delivery of some HASS programs. New members of our HASS team will ideally be comfortable working with technology as an important part of shared teaching practice, collaboration, and student learning experiences.

An ability to teach HASS across all year levels, including upper school, is desirable. Ideally, applicants should be highly engaged with evidence and research-led teaching practice, use a range of pedagogies, and be prepared for a working environment that requires a high level of lateral thinking, collaboration, and agility.
