About the role
About us:
Baker Bleu was founded in 2016 by Mike and Mia Russell with a clear ambition: to create ethical, deeply flavoured sourdough with patience. Mike brought a commitment to long fermentation, natural leavening and traditional methods. From a small shop in Elsternwick, we’ve built a bakery grounded in tradition, community, and craft. Early on, our signature dark crust became a defining choice. What began as a neighbourhood bakery quickly became a destination bakery.
Today, Baker Bleu spans multiple locations across Melbourne and Sydney, supplying leading restaurants while remaining closely tied to the communities around each store. Our shelves are filled daily with freshly baked sourdough bread, pastries, and food to share.
About the role:
We are currently hiring for Retail Assistants and Baristas at our Double Bay location.
You’ll help create the welcoming, polished customer experience Baker Bleu is known for. You’ll serve customers with care, keep the shop front beautifully presented, support daily store routines and share your knowledge of our bread, pastries and seasonal products.
Baristas will prepare consistently excellent coffee from our friends at Market Lane, serve customers with care, support smooth service during busy periods and help keep the coffee area clean, stocked and beautifully presented.
About you:
You’re positive, reliable and customer-focused, with pride in presentation and a genuine interest in quality food. You enjoy being hands-on, working as part of a team and making each customer feel welcome.
Experience in retail, hospitality, bakery, café or another customer-facing environment.
A friendly, confident approach to customer service.
Strong communication skills and the ability to work well in a team.
Comfort using POS systems, handling payments and following store procedures.
Good attention to detail, especially with product presentation and cleanliness.
Availability to work mornings, weekends and rotating shifts as required.
Full Australian working rights.
Why join Baker Bleu?
Work for an industry-leading company with a vision for ongoing growth, both across the business and at a personal level.
Friendly, professional, and supportive team culture. Work alongside passionate people who genuinely care about what they do.
Staff discounts.
High-energy, fun environment.
No Nights!
Confidential Employee Assistance Program available for support if needed.
