We are seeking an experienced Electrical Leading Hand to join our team in Brisbane at our Archerfield Head Office and Manufacturing Facility.

About the Role

Reporting to the Workshop Manager, you will lead and work alongside workshop technicians in the execution of electrical work, ensuring tasks are completed safely, to the required quality standards, and within required timeframes — while supporting a productive and cohesive workshop environment.

This is a hands-on leadership role: you’ll oversee the team’s day-to-day work while continuing to complete your own assigned tasks, providing guidance and on-the-job support to technicians and driving continuous improvement in workshop safety and processes.

This is a full-time role, Monday to Friday, with a monthly Rostered Day Off (RDO).

Key Responsibilities

• Carry out work as per instructions from the Workshop Manager, and provide guidance and assistance to workshop technicians as part of a team.

• Provide day-to-day leadership, guidance, and on-the-job support to workshop technicians, promoting a safe and cohesive team environment.

• Oversee all electrical work completed in the workshop, ensuring it is completed safely and to the required quality and Australian standards, including AS/NZS 3000:2018.

• Ensure all team members adhere to PPE requirements and workshop safety practices.

• Multitask effectively, supervising the team while completing your own assigned tasks.

• Drive continuous improvement of workshop processes, safety practices, and operational workflows.

• Escalate safety concerns, quality issues, equipment failures, or resourcing risks to the Workshop Manager as required.

• Maintain a high level of professionalism when liaising with internal staff, customers, and contractors.

• Comply with all company policies, procedures, and applicable legislation, including the Work Health and Safety Act 2011 (Qld).

You will bring:

• Completed electrical trade qualification (Certificate III in Electrotechnology Electrician or equivalent).

• A current, valid Queensland Electrical Licence.

• Proficiency in troubleshooting and fault-finding.

• Sound working knowledge of workshop safety practices, WHS obligations, and safe systems of work.

• Demonstrated ability to lead, supervise, and support a team of technicians on the workshop floor.

• Strong time management skills, with the ability to multitask and prioritise competing demands.

• Good people management and interpersonal skills.

• Attention to detail and a commitment to quality workmanship.

• Self-motivation and the ability to work as an active team player.
