Clarence Correctional Centre is seeking a confident, hands-on Trade Instructor – Laundry to lead from the front in a secure, high-volume industrial environment.

This opportunity is particularly suited to professionals with backgrounds in the military, police, corrections, emergency services, trades or other operational environments who bring strong leadership, situational awareness, resilience and the ability to maintain high standards of safety and security.

This isn’t a standard desk job. You’ll be working directly within the Centre’s industrial laundry operation, where your ability to provide clear leadership, uphold strict security protocols and mentor others will contribute directly to institutional safety and inmate rehabilitation.

About Clarence Correctional Centre

Opened in mid-2020, this 1,700-bed state-of-the-art facility is the largest correctional centre in Australia.

Located on the beautiful NSW North Coast, approximately 6 hours’ drive from Sydney and 3.5 hours from Brisbane, our region offers rainforests, epic headlands, sand dunes and some of Australia’s best beaches, together with vibrant multicultural cafés, restaurants and welcoming community towns.

As a Trade Instructor – Laundry, you are a resilient leader who sets clear expectations and stays composed under pressure. Ideal backgrounds include Ex-Military & Veterans, Police & Emergency Services, Correctional Officers, Trade & Industrial Professionals. You will drive operational leadership in a secure, high-volume industrial laundry while maintaining strict safety, security and WHS compliance. You will supervise, train and coach inmates to build practical job-ready skills, hitting quality and productivity benchmarks through meaningful work that supports rehabilitation and reintegration. By modelling professional integrity, ethical conduct and strong boundaries, you will work as a part of the Domestic Services team to achieve the Centre's operational objectives and proactively manage risk.

To be successful in this role, you’ll ideally have:

• Strong operational experience within the military, police, corrections, emergency services, trades or a similar structured environment
• Demonstrated leadership and the ability to supervise people in a fast-paced operational workplace
• Strong situational awareness and commitment to safety, security and risk management
• Ability to coach, mentor and develop practical workplace skills
• High levels of integrity, resilience, accountability and professionalism
• Strong communication, interpersonal and conflict-resolution skills
• Certificate IV in Training and Assessment, or willingness to obtain
• Certificate III in Correctional Practice, or willingness to obtain
• Certificate III in Laundry Operations, or willingness to obtain
