About the role

Team Global Express is currently seeking a Same Day Operations Supervisor to join our team at Melbourne Airport in a permanent full-time position.

This role is responsible for overseeing our Same Day operations across weekends and public holidays, ensuring our Premium Services freight is coordinated safely, efficiently and on time.

You will provide day-to-day leadership to the operations team, coordinate urgent freight movements, manage operational issues and escalations, and ensure we continue to deliver a high level of service to our customers.

Key Responsibilities

• Supervise the day-to-day Same Day operations across weekends and public holidays

• Lead and support the operations team to ensure daily service requirements are achieved

• Oversee Premium Services freight, including Same Day (Next Flight), Time Sensitive and H2H (Highly Monitored) consignments

• Coordinate and monitor urgent freight movements from booking through to delivery

• Manage daily workloads and ensure jobs are allocated appropriately

• Monitor operational performance and respond quickly to delays or service issues

• Manage customer and operational escalations and work with the team to resolve issues

• Ensure customers receive timely and accurate updates regarding their freight

• Liaise with drivers and other operational teams to ensure service expectations are met

• Ensure Proof of Delivery and other required documentation is completed accurately

• Support the team with quotes, bookings and customer enquiries when required

• Promote a strong safety culture and ensure operational procedures are followed

• Build positive working relationships with customers, drivers and internal stakeholders

About You

To be successful in this role, you'll have:

• Previous experience in transport, logistics, freight or operational supervision

• Experience leading or supervising a team in a fast-paced operational environment

• Strong understanding of dispatch, freight movements and customer service

• Strong leadership and people management skills

• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills

• Ability to make decisions and manage operational issues independently

• Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work well under pressure

• Good computer skills and ability to learn operational systems quickly

• Strong attention to detail and organisational skills

• A hands-on approach and willingness to support the team when required
