Company Accountant

We are seeking an experienced Company Accountant to join our dynamic team on a 12-month maternity cover at our office in Wangara. This is a hands-on role suited to someone with a strong background in financial and management accounting, ideally within the construction or project-based industry.

Working closely with Project Managers, Supervisors, and the Leadership Team, you will help drive financial performance, manage cash flow, and ensure compliance across payroll, tax, and reporting obligations.

Key Responsibilities

• Financial Reporting – Prepare financial management accounts and reports for management; collaborate with our external accountant in preparing tax reports and statements.
• Budgeting & Forecasting – Prepare financial budgets, including project and cashflow forecasting.
• Stakeholder Collaboration – Work closely with Project Managers and executives to align financial goals; liaise with external accountants and the Leadership Team.
• Cash Flow Management – Monitor cash flow to maintain financial stability across the business.
• Job Cost Analysis – Track and analyse project costs to optimise profitability across various projects.
• Payroll – Oversee payroll functions, including compliance requirements under various awards.
• Systems – Implement and improve financial systems and processes, including expanding the use of Procore throughout the business.
• Revenue – Work closely with Project Managers/Supervisors and correspond with clients, preparing and submitting monthly progress claims.
• Risk Management – Identify financial risks and implement appropriate mitigation strategies.
• Tax & Compliance – Ensure ongoing adherence to ATO regulations and relevant industry standards.

Skills & Experience

• Background in construction finance highly desirable.
• Certificate IV in Bookkeeping or Accounting (minimum); a Diploma or higher qualification is preferred.
• MYOB – Highly experienced in MYOB Account Right Live.
• Procore – Competent in Procore, or a strong ability to quickly learn and manage the system.
• Excel – Advanced level skills.
• Employment Hero – Competent in Employment Hero, or a strong ability to quickly learn and manage the system.
• Excellent communication skills and a proven ability to work effectively as part of a team, collaborating confidently with both project teams and senior leadership.

This role is a fixed term 12-month contract with the potential to progress to a permanent full-time contract.

Pay: $90,000.00 – $110,000.00 per year
