About the role

JAG Meatworx is seeking a Butcher Shop Sales Assistant to join our team in Kilkenny, SA. This is a casual position offering flexible working arrangements to suit your lifestyle. As a Butcher Shop Sales Assistant, you will be the face of our business, providing exceptional customer service whilst supporting our butchers in delivering quality meat products and a memorable shopping experience. This role is essential to maintaining our reputation for excellence and ensuring our customers receive the highest level of service and product knowledge.

Key responsibilities

• Greet customers warmly and provide knowledgeable assistance in selecting premium meat products

• Process customer transactions accurately using the point-of-sale system

• Maintain a clean, organised and hygienic shop environment in accordance with food safety standards

• Assist with packaging and labelling meat products with accurate pricing and product information

• Restock shelves and display cases with fresh products throughout the day

• Answer customer enquiries about products, cuts of meat and cooking recommendations

• Support butchers with food preparation tasks when required

• Handle cash and payment methods securely and accurately

• Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations and company policies

• Contribute to a positive team atmosphere and support colleagues as needed

What we're looking for

• Previous experience in retail, sales or customer service environments

• Strong communication and interpersonal skills with a genuine passion for customer service

• Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple tasks

• Basic numeracy skills and familiarity with point-of-sale systems

• A keen interest in food, butchery or meat products (training will be provided)

• Reliability and punctuality, with flexibility to work casual hours as required

• Physical capability to stand for extended periods and lift moderately heavy items

• A commitment to maintaining high standards of cleanliness and hygiene

• Willingness to learn and develop product knowledge

• Team-oriented approach with a positive attitude
