The Role

We're looking for an experienced Export Control Officer to join a Defence communications program team in Canberra. This is a great opportunity for someone with strong export controls knowledge to help the Commonwealth and industry obtain and maintain access to advanced military communications technology.

You'll work with a significant degree of autonomy, liaising with industry counterparts to progress export control approvals and supporting the organisation's broader export controls framework.

Key Responsibilities

Develop export control approval application packages, including third-party retransfers and technical assistance agreementsSupport technology and data releases to industry and Defence stakeholdersSupport auditing and record keeping of export controls agreementsAssist with the development and maturation of the organisation's export controls management frameworkManage stakeholder engagement with internal teams and external industry counterparts

Required

Current NV1 security clearanceExperience in and knowledge of US export controls and International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR)Experience in Foreign Military Sales (FMS) and Direct Commercial Sales (DCS)Strong written and oral communication skillsAbility to work with limited guidance, demonstrating initiative and sound judgement
