Under the revitalised National Competition Policy framework agreed by Australian governments, the NCC will help drive a renewed national focus on productivity, economic dynamism, regulatory reform and better outcomes for consumers, businesses and the broader community.
Through the Intergovernmental Agreement on National Competition Policy and the National Competition Policy Federation Funding Agreement, the Council plays a central role in assessing State and Territory reform progress, advising on the application of the National Competition Principles, undertaking thematic reviews, supporting public understanding of competition reform, and providing independent advice to the Commonwealth Treasurer.
