About the role
Installation Theatrical Engineering is seeking an experienced A Grade Electrician to join the stage machinery & motion control team. You will be responsible for the practical electrical delivery of electrical systems, motor control systems, including building and wiring motor control and automation cabinets, reading and interpreting detailed electrical and control schematics, installation and termination of motors, VFDs, encoders, brakes, sensors, safety devices and control equipment. You will work closely with the Electrical/Motion Control Engineer, mechanical engineers, project managers and site teams to deliver complete motion systems from the Melbourne workshop through to installation and commissioning around Australia.
Key responsibilities
Building and wiring motor control and automation cabinets
Reading and interpreting detailed electrical and control schematics
Installation and termination of motors, VFDs, encoders, brakes, sensors, safety devices and control equipment
Electrical installation of motion systems on project sites
Electrical installation of Stage Machinery electrical systems such as lighting bars
Testing, fault finding and commissioning
Working closely with the Electrical Engineer on system implementation and troubleshooting
Planning materials, labour and installation requirements
Maintaining a very high standard of cabinet construction, wiring, labelling and presentation
Managing and supervising apprentices and other electricians as required
Travelling interstate and occasionally internationally for project installation and commissioning as required
About you
Qualified Victorian A Grade Electrician
Highly experienced in motor control, industrial automation or machinery
Confident building complex electrical/control cabinets from drawings
Experienced with VFDs, motors, control circuits, PLC I/O and industrial control equipment
Excellent electrical fault finder
Able to understand how an entire machine or control system operates rather than simply wiring from a drawing
Highly organised and capable of planning your own work
Comfortable working autonomously and taking responsibility for outcomes
Able to supervise and develop apprentices
Comfortable communicating with engineers, project managers, clients and other trades
