ABOUT THE WASH House

WASH House is a resource centre for women, proudly supporting the Blacktown community for over 40 years. Our mission is to reduce the impacts of poverty, social disadvantage, and violence, while empowering women to lead safe, connected, and fulfilling lives. Our work is grounded in Our Values of Equality, Justice, Respect, Courage, Non- Violence, Empowerment, Integrity and Inclusion.

We deliver a range of integrated services, including case management, counselling, therapeutic programs, skills building and social group programs, advocacy, and community engagement. We prioritise supporting our staff to deliver trauma informed, client centred and culturally safe services. 

ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY

The Youth Program Facilitator’s role delivers services under the Communities for Children program aiming to contribute towards strong child friendly communities. The role is focused on delivering community strengthening activities that build individual and community capacity and foster community connections and participation for young women and girls. This includes facilitation and delivery of educational and social engagement activities and programs including events, group work and facilitating training and education.

With exceptional communication skills and a strong sense of empathy, you connect easily with individuals and groups. Your experience in delivering impactful training programs, along with your talent for building relationships and networking within the community, will enable you to inspire and uplift those around you.

Essential CRITERIA

• Relevant Qualifications in community development, youth work, or other related discipline.

• Demonstrated experience of minimum 2 years in community development/ project management.

• Demonstrated high level communication and negotiation skills including ability to produce written reports and presentations.

• Demonstrated knowledge and/or experience in project/program management.

• Demonstrated knowledge and experience in developing, implementing, reviewing, and evaluating community development programs and initiatives for young people, particularly young women.

• Demonstrated ability to build and maintain successful partnerships with relevant partners including government and non-government organisations and community-based organisations.

• Demonstrated ability to work autonomously and as a member of a team.

• Superior computer skills, including the ability to create graphic and text content for the development of quality information and promotional materials fit for a range of purposes.

• Experience and confidence using social media, multimedia and audio-visual equipment.

• Knowledge and understanding of social policy and issues that face women and girls.

• Knowledge and/ or experience in Domestic and Family Violence/ healthy relationships. 

• Conceptual skills, with sound analytical and problem-solving ability.

• Current driver’s licence.

Desirable:

• Experience working in/ existing connections within Blacktown LGA

• Experience in working with schools and delivering school programs.

• Knowledge or experience in delivering activities within the Communities for Children program.
