In this role, you'll:
To set you up for success as a qualified Train Guard, we are now recruiting for Trainee Train Guards. During the Training program, you'll undergo comprehensive training to master all aspects of the Train Guard role. From assisting passengers and ensuring their safety during boarding and alighting to dispatching trains and maintaining onboard security, you'll be equipped with the skills needed to excel in this dynamic position.
As a Train Guard, you'll play a vital role as an ambassador for Sydney Trains, ensuring the safety and satisfaction of the thousands of passengers who rely on our services daily. Your responsibilities will include managing safety issues, overseeing smooth train operations, providing public announcements and delivering excellent customer service.
While the road to becoming a Train Guard is fulfilling, it requires dedication and flexibility. You'll be expected to adhere to, in-person and on the train training schedule at, which may involve early mornings, evenings, weekends, and public holidays. Your commitment is crucial to supporting Sydney Trains' 24/7 operational business.

About you
• You have the communications skills to connect with a variety of people from diverse backgrounds, ensuring sensitivity to their needs and delivering clear and precise instructions.
• You thrive at working towards a common goal in a team environment by fostering open communications with the team and other stakeholders.
• You're proactive and can work with minimal direction, offering support to passengers and promptly addressing issues when they arise.
• You're resilient and can adapt to be able to manage critical situations in a fast-paced and changing environment.
• You prioritise safety is fundamental to your work ethic, ensuring the protection of passengers, team members, and yourself through strict adherence to safety procedures.
• Your previous background in a safety-focused customer service and/or operational environment is highly desirable.
