Aboriginal Liaison Officer

This position is Aboriginal identified. About the Role:

As an Aboriginal Hospital Liaison Officer (AHLO), you'll play a vital role in supporting Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander patients throughout their hospital journey by providing culturally safe care, advocating for their needs, and working closely with clinical teams to improve health outcomes. This rewarding role combines cultural leadership, patient advocacy, care coordination, and collaboration to help ensure every patient receives respectful, accessible, and culturally appropriate healthcare.

What We're Looking For:

Essential Criteria 

• Demonstrated experience working respectfully and effectively with Aboriginal individuals, families and communities.
• Strong communication and relationship-building skills, with the ability to work collaboratively across multidisciplinary teams.
• Knowledge of Aboriginal health issues, cultural safety, and the social determinants of health.
• Ability to work independently, exercise initiative, manage competing priorities, and maintain confidentiality.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and an understanding of workplace health, safety, quality, and healthcare standards.

Desired Criteria 

• Certificate III or IV in Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander Primary Health Care (desirable).
• Experience supporting Aboriginal people to access health and community services, with strong culturally appropriate communication skills.
• Knowledge of Aboriginal health services, community networks, and the social determinants of health within the local community.
